Use AI to learn a new skill
AI won't replace a real class or a good teacher, but it's a patient helper that explains things simply, answers every "silly" question, and quizzes you at your own pace.
Maybe you want to learn some Spanish before a trip, finally understand spreadsheets, start knitting, or know what your new camera's buttons do. An AI chat is a good place to start. It never gets tired of questions, and you can ask it to slow down, use simpler words, or try a different example.
Tell it where you're starting
Say what you want to learn, what you already know, and how much time you have. Ask for a small first step, not everything at once.
Example: "I want to learn basic Spanish for a trip to Mexico in March. I know almost nothing. I have 15 minutes a day. Make me a simple 4-week plan, then teach me today's lesson: 10 useful phrases for a restaurant, with how to say them."
Learn in small pieces
Ask for one idea at a time with an everyday example. If something doesn't click, say "explain that a different way" or "explain it like I'm new to this." Short daily practice beats one long session.
Let it quiz you
After a lesson, ask AI to quiz you with a few questions, one at a time, and to wait for your answer before giving the next one. For a language, ask it to play a waiter or a shopkeeper so you can practice a real conversation.
Check it with a real source
AI sometimes gets facts wrong and sounds sure about them. For anything important, like health, money, safety, or a hobby with tools or chemicals, check with a trusted book, website, class, or expert. Use AI for practice and explanations, and real sources for the final word.

Questions
Can AI really teach me a language?
It's a great practice partner for words, phrases, and simple conversations. Pair it with a class, an app, or real conversations for listening and speaking.
What if I don't understand its answer?
Just say so. Ask it to use simpler words, give an example from daily life, or break it into smaller steps. It won't get impatient.
How do I know it's right?
Check anything important with a trusted source. AI can make mistakes, especially with facts, numbers, and safety steps.
Is this free?
Yes. The free version of ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude can do everything here, and our coach gives you 3 free prompts a day with no account needed.
