Use AI to plan things to do when family visits for the holidays

The big meal is one day. AI helps you fill the rest of the visit with simple plans everyone can enjoy.

When family comes to stay, the long stretches between meals can be the hardest part: kids get restless, grown-ups run out of things to say, and the weather doesn't help. An AI chat is good at quick ideas that fit your group, your house, and your budget.

Tell it who's coming

List the ages, what people like, how many days, and anything to plan around, like a bad knee, a baby's nap, or a small living room. Ask for a short list of activities for each day, with at least one that's free.

Example: "We have 9 people staying for 4 days over Thanksgiving: ages 4, 7, 12, 15, four adults, and my dad, 80, who uses a cane. Small house, cold weather. Suggest one easy activity per day that works for everyone, plus two quiet things for the kids. Mostly free."

Make up games and quizzes

Ask AI to write a family trivia quiz about your own family (give it the facts), a scavenger hunt for the house or yard, or a "guess who" game using old stories. It can also make easy versions for the youngest kids.

Have a rainy-day backup

Ask for a short indoor plan for a gray afternoon: a movie list everyone can agree on, a simple craft, or a cooking job the kids can help with. Ask it to keep the supplies to things you already have.

Give helpers a job

Guests often want to help. Ask AI to turn your to-do list into small jobs people can pick from, and write a short, friendly group message so no one feels bossed around.

Things to know

• AI doesn't know your town. Check opening hours and prices for any outing yourself.
• Keep the plan loose. One planned thing a day is plenty.
• Don't share kids' full names or school details in the chat.
