Plan Thanksgiving with AI

Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26 this year. An AI chat can turn the planning into a few simple lists.

Hosting a holiday meal is mostly planning: who's coming, what to cook, when to start each dish, and what to buy. That's exactly the kind of list-making an AI chat is good at. You still do the cooking and the hugging.

Start with your crowd

Tell it how many people, any dietary needs (vegetarian, gluten-free, diabetic), your kitchen (one oven? small fridge?), and your budget. Ask for a simple menu that fits.

Example: "I'm hosting Thanksgiving for 10, including two vegetarians and one person who can't have gluten. I have one oven. Suggest a simple menu with mostly make-ahead dishes."

Get a cooking timeline

Once you like the menu, ask: "Make me a timeline working back from dinner at 3pm, including what I can do the day before." This is the part that saves the most stress, especially the oven schedule.

Turn it into a shopping list

Ask it to group the list by store section and to note what you probably already have (salt, oil, butter). Ask for quantities for your number of guests.

Use what's left over

On Friday, tell it what's in the fridge and ask for three leftover meals that don't taste like a repeat.

A short toast or grace

Tell it who'll be there and one or two things you're grateful for this year. Ask for something under one minute, warm, and not cheesy. Read it out loud once and change any words that don't sound like you.

Keeping the peace

If you're dreading a tricky conversation at the table, an AI chat can help you plan a calm, kind way to change the subject or set a boundary ahead of time.

Questions

Can AI give me exact turkey cooking times?

It can give typical times, but always check with a meat thermometer and the directions on your turkey's packaging.

What if a guest has a food allergy?

Use AI for ideas, then double-check every ingredient label yourself.

Does this work for Friendsgiving or Christmas?

Yes. Change the date and the crowd and the same steps work.
