Use AI to resize a recipe

Feeding 12 instead of 4? AI can do the recipe math and turn grams into cups. Just check its numbers and remember cooking times don't simply double.

Holiday cooking often means making a favorite recipe for a much bigger, or smaller, crowd. Doing the math for every line is tedious and easy to get wrong. An AI chat can resize the whole recipe at once, switch between cups and grams, and make you a shopping list.

Paste the recipe and say how many

Paste the full recipe and tell it how many people you're feeding now and how many it was written for.

Example: "Here's my stuffing recipe. It serves 6. I need to serve 14. Resize every ingredient, round to amounts I can measure in a normal kitchen, and give me a shopping list at the end. [PASTE THE RECIPE]"

Convert measurements

Found a recipe in grams or from another country? Ask AI to convert it to cups and spoons, or the other way. Tell it what kitchen tools you have, like "I don't have a scale."

Questions

Can AI double a recipe?

Yes. Paste the recipe and say how many you're feeding. Ask it to round to amounts you can actually measure, then spot-check the math.

Does baking time double too?

No. Larger amounts usually need different times and sometimes a different pan or temperature. Use a thermometer and check doneness rather than the clock alone.

Can it convert grams to cups?

Yes. Tell it the ingredient, since a cup of flour and a cup of sugar weigh different amounts. If accuracy matters, like in baking, a kitchen scale is best.

Is this free?

Yes. The free version of ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude can do everything here, and our coach gives you 3 free prompts a day with no account needed.
