Thank your customers at the end of the year, with help from AI

3 min readHolidays ๐ŸŽ

A short, honest thank-you is one of the nicest things a small business can send. AI helps you find the words.

The end of the year is a good time to thank the people who kept your business going: your regulars, your first customers, the ones who told a friend. Most owners mean to and then run out of time. An AI chat app like ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude can help you write a warm, short thank-you in a few minutes, so it actually goes out.

Step 1: Say what this year was like

Example:

I run a small bakery in a town of about 8,000 people. This year we added a second oven and started doing Saturday pickups. Write a short, warm thank-you email to our customers. Sound like a real person, not a company. Keep it under 120 words.

A detail or two from your year makes it sound like you, not a template.

Step 2: Make a card version

Example:

Turn this thank-you into 3 short messages I can hand-write inside holiday cards for my best customers. One or two sentences each, friendly, no sales pitch.

Handwritten cards stand out. Keep them short so you actually finish the stack.

Step 3: Turn it into a post

Example:

Make this into a short social media post thanking our customers for the year. Add one line about our holiday hours, and keep it under 60 words.

Read it out loud before you post. If it doesn't sound like you, ask the AI to make it plainer.

Step 4: Thank someone in particular

Example:

Help me write a thank-you note to a customer who has come in every week for 3 years and sent us lots of new people. Mention that we noticed. Keep it to 3 sentences.

A personal note to your biggest supporters is often the one they remember.

Questions

Can AI write a thank-you message to my customers?

Yes. Tell it about your business and your year, and ask for a short, warm email, card message or post. Then read it and change anything that doesn't sound like you.

How long should a customer thank-you be?

Short. A few sentences for an email, one or two for a card, and under 60 words for a post is plenty.

Should I put a discount in my thank-you?

It's better to keep the thank-you about them. If you want to include an offer, keep it to one small line at the end.

Is this free?

Yes. The free version of ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude can do everything here, and our coach gives you 3 free prompts a day with no account needed.
